A New Dawn in Enterprise Mobility
Sounds deep doesn't it? It's actually not as big a deal as you might think. However, regular readers of this site know that I have a penchant for creating "colorful" titles for my post. This post is not actually about a new company that is coming out with an emerging solution for mobility, nor a new way for organizations to adopt mobile solutions. This new dawn is in fact for me. About two weeks ago now, I left Aberdeen Group.
Now I am not going to walk you along a long windy post about about why I left Aberdeen, nor what I think of the organization. Others have done that, and I don't think there's anything more to say about the organization. People will join Aberdeen and people will leave Aberdeen. I was there for just under two years (making me one of the most tenured analysts there I might add) and for all its challenges, I can tell you it was one of the best professional experiences in my life - if only for all the life lessons it taught me.
Aberdeen was also a fantastic place to learn about enterprise mobility and how it affected end-user organizations. Jamie Bedard, Aberdeen's former CEO, said in one of his (in)famous Monday morning meetings that as an analyst, you live this place like it's in dog years. Boy was he right - I feel as if I learned in dog years as well. Aberdeen afforded me the opportunity to research and write reports on key topics such as:
- Fixed Mobile Convergence in the Enterprise
- Deploying Applications on the WLAN
- The 2008 Enterprise Mobility Benchmark Report
- Driving Workforce Productivity with Unified Communications
- Reducing the Financial Risk of Wireless Networks
- Measuring the Real Value of Wireless LAN Deployments
That said, I'm now moving on. These past two weeks have been incredibly busy. Two weeks ago, I was in Salt Lake City where I joined Celio Corp's advisory board. I'm still on Mobile Enterprise Magazine's editorial advisory board, and I have every intention of staying active in the enterprise mobility space. This past week, I was in San Francisco and next week I will be in Cleveland.
So bottom line, I have closed a chapter in my career and am embarking on a new path. I'm excited about it and really feel as if this is a new dawn for my take on enterprise mobility.

Best of luck to you Philippe in your new endeavors. Hope your new path is enlightening.
Cheers,
John
